PHILADELPHIA IRISH CENTER - Sept 24- 25, 2010
aka The Commodore Barry Club  6809 Emlen Street  Phila.
A Different Sort of Gathering.
Before the amazing slow down software, before the tune finders and search engines, and long, long before the internet itself was wired  into the wireless ether, there were teachers and stories, and it was good.
Every musician had a history and a lineage and a style. Every tune had a name or two or three and a story.  What do you call that one? Where did you learn it? When was that? Did you know his brother? Who taught him? Have you heard this version, and so on.
This gathering is not about learning tunes, but rather about spending some time with the tunes and the stories, and with some very gifted people  who have a wonderful way of expressing the soul of Irish traditional music.
